REACHING FOR TWO-WHEEL DREAM
This warm autumn day will long be remembered by the dwellers of "Dwletliler Kgi" ("Palace of the Prosperous") orphanage located in the picturesque foothills of Kopetdag. On this day, members of the government, heads of public organizations came to present them with wonderful gifts - bicycles - on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan. The guests were warmly welcomed by the kids who were provided with all conditions in the orphanage for successful studying and acquiring knowledge, as well as for recreation, interesting and useful leisure activities, including arts and sports.
Thanking the President with all their heart for his fatherly attention and care, the kids wished the head of state good health for many years and new outstanding successes for the good of the Motherland. Then, in a festive atmosphere, the kids were presented with bicycles - modern sports vehicles from the best world manufacturers. After taking a group photo in memory of this event, the kids were delighted to take their bicycles on a test drive around the territory of the children's town.
The celebration of this significant event continued with a mass bike ride in which the young cyclists were joined by many sportsmen and students, as well as representatives of relevant ministries and public organizations. The route of the cycle marathon ran along major Ashgabat highways. On their way, the sports action participants were greeted by the colorful performances by art groups.
After the bike ride, the celebration continued at "Dwletliler Kgi" in which the kids performed incendiary song-dance compositions and also demonstrated their sportsmanship. According to tradition, the celebration finished with a festive dinner.
It should be recalled that the state programs for improvement of health of the population attach great importance to physical education and sports. Being the most accessible and fascinating way of physical development, cycling plays a special role. It was no accident that Turkmenistan initiated World Bicycle Day, and the UN General Assembly unanimously passed Turkmenistan-initiated resolution at its 82nd meeting of the 72nd session on the annual celebration of World Bicycle Day on June 3. According to the decree by the President of Turkmenistan, Bicycle Day is now celebrated in the country as an important date.
Thanks to Turkmenistan's well-directed efforts, cycling has firmly become one of the most popular methods of development of physical education in the country, which was appreciated by the international community. The International Cycling Federation decided to hold the 2021 World Track Cycling Championships in Ashgabat.
Now, dwellers of Turkmenistan's orphanages have a perfect opportunity to join the mass cycling movement. This will help some of them to grow up strong and healthy, while others will very likely be able to ride to the podium of international competitions. What is important is that there is now not only a dream but also a means to reach for it.
