Fans and sportsmen associate the entire sports forum primarily with its visual symbols. The popularity of the competitions largely depends on success and popularity of such symbols.
The organizers presented the symbols of the sports forum and their interpretations six months ahead of the start of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. This is how the symbols of the Asian Games look in the interpretation of the competition organizers.

The Akhal-Teke horse is a national treasure of the Turkmen people, who made a great contribution to the development of the world civilization. The emblem of the V Asian Games carries the image of a star as an element of the flag of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). Being a sport symbol of all Asian countries, the star personifies friendship. So, all these images and their colors make up the emblem of the V Asian Games and reflect the motto of the Asian Games - 2017, which reads as "Health. Inspiration. Friendship."
The circumferential elements of the emblem signify unity, cohesion and constructive cooperation. The emblem also features the name and venue of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in one of the international languages - English.

The basic meaning of the image is conveyed by the caravans going along the Great Silk Way, Yurtas, Alabai, Turkmen folk musicians-story-tellers (Bakhshi), Goresh wrestling, cultural monuments symbolizing the golden age of ancient civilizations on the Turkmen land, a fast-moving Akhal-Teke horse, cotton, wheat and melons growing in the fertile Turkmen land. They all organically intertwine with the beautiful modern images. A part of the image devoted to modernity presents modern buildings in the capital city and Avaza on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea whose architecture employs the elements of national design. The image is presented in the form of a flying bird symbolizing the country's aspiration for the lofty goals. It is a kind of personification of the spiritual wealth of the hospitable Turkmen people.
The image of the puppy of the Central Asian shepherd dog (Alabai) was chosen as the mascot of the competitions. This breed of dogs has long been cultivated in the territory of Turkmenistan. It is characterized by the extraordinary strength, endurance and devotion to man. A brave, fearless and proud Alabai has always stood guard over the family hearths and well-being of Turkmens. Alabai has always been a friend of the man, faithful to his master, vigilantly guarding a flock, a house and property. Given all such qualities, the mascot of the V Asian Games, Alabai, was named Vepaly (Faithful).
Vepaly is sincere, fair and brave dog, and he always defeats the enemy. His courageous, strong-willed and fearless character will be an inspiring example for the triumphant victories of Turkmen sportsmen, who can be stout in battles, hospitable during holidays and dedicated in any business. The elements of the national clothes of Vepaly complement his originality.
The sample design harmoniously combines the symbols of the Asian Games-2017. Dressed in the festive clothes - a white hat, a shirt, a national silk gown (Don), standing in front of the entrance and holding the national flag of Turkmenistan and the flag of the Olympic Council of Asia, Vepaly welcomes the guests, embodying friendship, hospitality and openness. This picture is complemented with the sign "Welcome to the V Asian Games!" in Turkmen and English languages. The white color of the entrance arch signifies the white city of Ashgabat, our cherished dreams and the bright path leading to victories.
According to the organizers, this design sample is intended to contribute to the understanding of the high spirit of the Asian Games-2017 and fill the numerous sportsmen and guests with pleasant emotions.
And here is how the colorful mascot of the Asian Games, Alabai Vepaly, is going to inspire the participants competing in certain sports.

Turkmen national wrestling, Goresh, has for centuries adorned the folk festivities. Now, Goresh has received international recognition. Vepaly knows no equal in this variety of wrestling, as no one knows better than him the techniques of this wrestling. Holding his opponent by the belt, he is preparing to make a lunge, and it will surely lead Vepaly to victory.

Vepaly, wearing a special jockey suit, is preparing for the show jumping competitions. Vepaly wants to win by skillfully overcoming various complex obstacles on his horse.

According to some information, international chess competitions were held already in the 9th-10th centuries, and a Turkmen named Abu Bakr Ibn Yahya Mohammed As-Suli was recognized as one of the world's first outstanding chess players. Since the XIX century, international competitions have been held regularly.
Vepaly sits behind the chessboard. His smiling image means that Vepaly confidently leads the sportsmen of this ancient sport to victories. In the right hand, Vepaly holds the king of white figures. It is now your move, Vepaly!

Futsal is a game of energetic sportsmen, striving to score victories. The world famous football stars have perfected their skills by playing futsal since their childhood. Dressed in a green uniform and boots for futsal, Vepaly will undoubtedly get luck. He confidently aims the ball into the opponent's net. After all, Vepaly has all the qualities for this game, i.e. the combination of speed, skills and well-thought movements.

Vepaly is a very skilled tennis player. He confidently sends the ball over the net. His skills and swift play will lead Vepaly only to victory. The symbol of the Asian Games and the stars of the OCA on Vepaly's sports uniform, as well as his headpiece (Tahya) embroidered with Akgayma pattern symbolize the national pride of the Turkmen sportsmen.

Vepaly is a master of Thai boxing. He is ready to attack his opponent. His blue sports uniform with the T-shirt displaying the symbol the V the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and the OCA star on the green sports glove on his left hand signify his great skills in martial arts. Self-confidence, efficient application of combat moves will help Vepaly win in this sport too.

When Vepaly, dressed in a blue sports uniform and protective helmet, comes on wrestling mats it becomes clear that he will surely beat his opponent, scoring a convincing victory. Sambo is one of the most popular sports in the world. It combines various techniques of judo, jiu-jitsu, goresh and other varieties of martial arts in Europe and Asia. Through his personal example of hard training, Vepaly calls upon Turkmen sambo wrestlers to make their best at the international competitions.

Kurash wrestling, being one of the ancient martial arts, is three and a half thousand year old. It is a peculiar examination of wrestling skills of strong men during various festivals and celebrations. Vepaly seeks to defeat his rival in kurash. Swimming is an exciting and entertaining sport. It is natural for Vepaly to finish first, overcoming the water element, as he is hardy and aimed at achieving high results.

Basketball is Vepaly's favorite sport. It seems that he is hovering in the air, throwing the ball into the basket. His flexibility and accuracy create confidence in achieving victory in this beautiful athletic game that requires strength, speed and dexterity.

Weightlifting is a sport for truly strong men. The weight lifting sport has always accounted for the ever growing number of fans since its birth in ancient Greece.
Dressed in a sport uniform with the belt tightly girding his strong torso, Vepaly looks forward to competing in this sport, as he is sure that a weighty bar will fly up like a feather.

Track-and-field is one of Vepaly's favorite sports. Vepaly is victorious in running for long distances, long and high jumps and throwing apparatuses thanks to his trained muscles. He enjoys such tests. Vepaly's scarcely perceptible smile and eyes full of mischief signal his readiness and ability to quickly and confidently cover any distance.

Vepaly is a Taekwondo player. Pulling all his strength, speed, balance, flexibility and endurance, he attacks his opponent, performing a powerful kick with his feet. A concentrated look of Vepaly's good-natured black eyes speaks of his self-discipline and purposefulness.
Dance sport is a certain harmony of art and sport in the amazing dynamics of movements. Vepaly, wearing a skullcap (Tahya) and a uniform with the ornament of the Asian Games, performs a dance, radiating joy and sincerity. His image embodies features such as swiftness, flexibility and plasticity inherent in this beautiful sport.

Kickboxing is a variety of martial arts. Vepaly, dressed in a special uniform, wearing a helmet and gloves, is ready to apply hand-to-hand fighting moves like in boxing and kicks like in karate. The mascot on gloves and the symbols of the Asian Games on the uniform inspire him for victory.

Vepaly knows no equal in belt wrestling. Holding an opponent by the belt, he enthusiastically starts a hard sparring. Vepaly, being an experienced fighter, mastered well the virtuosic and high-speed moves. As it stands now, Turkmen sportsmen are among leaders in this variety of martial arts, as evidenced by their achievements at the world championships and the World Cup competitions. Vepaly will multiply their successes in international competitions.
